Playing Catch Up!

Well I have done a horrible job of keeping this caught up!!! A lot has happened since I wrote last.

Saturday the 18th we had Owen's first birthday party! He had a lot of fun and LOVED eating his cake!! He just about ate the whole thing. It was funny after we blew out his candles and he was eating his cake, he kept blowing like he was blowing out the candles. It was very nice having all our family and friends there.

On Tuesday we did Owen's first birthday pictures. They turned out very nice! He did a very good job.

Wednesday the 22nd was Jerrod and Owen's birthdays. We didn't really do a whole lot, but Owen did get to eat some more cupcakes! I made Jerrod an apple pie, and Owen cupcakes.

Thursday the 23rd was Thanksgiving, or as Logan says "Happy FirstGiving!" We went to Joplin and went to 3 different places!! We went to the farm, then to Karen and Drew Talbots - where Owen took 5 steps!! His most ever! After that we went to Karen's house. It was a long day. Unfortunately Owen woke up not feeling well. He was very congested and coughing and just didn't feel well at all.

Yesterday we went to Bolivar for Thanksgiving. Owen still didn't feel the best. However, he got very excited when Heath brought their puppy over!! He was giving Owen kisses and he loved it! On the way home, Logan was wanting a candy cane. We told him he'd have to see Santa to get a candy cane. He is extremely scared of Santa right now. So he decided to devise a plan to get his candy cane. He told Daddy, Daddy will go to see Santa and Logan will stay with Mommy, and then Daddy will bring Logan the candy cane! Pretty clever!

Da-Da!

Well Owen actually had 2 firsts tonight. Earlier today I said "Say Da-Da" and he did! It was more than 1 time too! He has said dada babbling and such, but never done it on command. I tried to get him to say Ma-Ma too but every time I asked him to say that he said "Ba-Ba." Although it seems like he was trying to actually say ma-ma that is just what was coming out! And this wasn't a first, but during lunch I thought it was soo funny. He had a sippy cup. He'd pick it up off the table and drink it and then he seemed to carefully put it down on the table and scoot it back a little so it wouldn't fall or tip over. It just amazed me that he was doing that. He usually would just throw it down! His other first happened at church. I was holding him and Connie started waving at him. He waved back! He didn't quite have it down and was technically waving at himself! It was so cute! Well I'm exhausted but I knew if I didn't write this before I went to bed that I'd forget even though I'd tell myself I wouldn't!

Splish Splash

Not a lot has happened since I wrote last. The boys had a bath together tonight and I got a lot of great pictures! They both just love the bath. Owen can be upset and crying and the second the bath water is turned on he will be laughing. Logan always wants to take a bath with Owen!

This afternoon I was watching Logan play with his blocks. I saw he had four of them side by side with a smaller block in the middle of each one. It was completely uniform! For the longest time he has loved to line everything up. He'll sort different colors and shapes too has he makes lines. I was going to take a picture of it, but he destroyed it before I could!

Owen was playing in his room tonight and was at 2 tubs that I have for Logan's trains and tracks. Owen would take a toy from one tub and throw it in the other! Too cute!

Lastly, I guess I will mention that we actually went to the gym tonight. It felt good to actually work out. We didn't do too much, but some. Although Jerrod ate a triple cheeseburger and I ate Pizza Hut and powdered donuts afterwards so I doubt we will see much benefit from the gym!

So Close...

Owen is so close to walking! However, he doesn't quite want to let go yet. He will walk all over holding onto my finger or pushing the chair, or cruising the furniture or walls. However the second you let him go he immediately goes to the ground. If he doesn't realize it right away he will stand by himself and in fact tonight (Friday) he took a step to me! I think he will be walking before too long once he gets the courage to just do it!

Tough Guy

I had remembered something I wanted to document! Monday, I was holding Owen and he decided to throw his head back. It hurt quite a little bit, but I didn't think much of it. Later that night I was looking in the bathroom mirror and realized that I had a black eye! This picture was taken tonight - 5 days after it happened!! He's a little fighter! Although if I had to choose one day to have a black eye, I guess it was good that he decided to do it the day before Halloween! Nice planning on his part.
