Doctor's Visit

Well it has been a little while since I have written. Yesterday (Thursday the 7th) both boys went to the doctor for their annual check-ups. It was Owen's one year and I knew he was going to need shots, but they had told me in the past that Logan was done until kindergarten. Apparently that was incorrect. I found that out when we first got there. Before that when Logan found out we were going to the doctor he did not want to. He kept saying he didn't want the yellow. He was referring to the tongue depressor they put in his mouth when we went all those times he had a fever. He had strep throat a lot so it was always checked. They had these little yellow plastic ones that were supposed to be flavored to, I guess, make it more enjoyable? It did not. Anyways when Dr. Meyer came in Logan immediately told him he didn't want the yellow. And he told him he wasn't sick. Dr. Meyer told him that he saw him when he was sick and for check-ups. Logan goes "I'm not sick...see?!" Luckily Logan did a good job of opening his mouth and saying "aaaahhh" that he did not need to use the "yellow." He did very well, and then Owen had his turn. He did a good job as well. After he left a nurse came in to take Logan to get his hearing and eyes checked. I didn't think he'd go without me, but he just ran out the door with her without a second thought. They came in to do Owen's shots while Logan was out. First the pricked his finger to test for lead and his hemoglobin levels. He didn't cry once during that whole procedure, not the sticking of his finger or the squeezing out the blood. He did sort of grunt at her once, because she was holding his finger but that was it! I was so surprised! Then it was time for the shots. He had 4 shots!! He cried during those, but as soon as they were done he was his happy self again! Then Logan came back and it was his turn for shots. He was a tad scared, and they had him hug me. He got 2 shots in his arm. He did pretty good for the first and cried for like a few seconds during the second, but immediately stopped. He didn't even get any tears. I couldn't believe how well both of them did!! I was worried I would have to screaming boys and a LOT of stress! Logan weighed 32 1/2 pounds and was 3 feet 2 1/4 inches tall. He's in the 50th percentile for weight and the 60th for height. Owen weighed 21 pounds 3 ounces and was 29 3/4 inches or 2 feet 5 3/4 inches tall. His head circumference was 18 3/4 inches. He was in 50th percentile for length and like the 35th for weight and the 80th for head!! No wonder we have so much trouble getting his shirts on over his head!! We went to Toys 'R' Us afterwards and the boys each got something. Owen was about to fall asleep in the cart! We then were going to get Logan a Happy Meal, but as I was driving to McDonald's, I looked back and saw that Logan had tuckered out too. They were both out like a light! I took them home and laid them down. Luckily neither of them reacted to the shots at all. In the past Owen has gotten fevers from them, but not this time! Well I think that wraps that up!

One other thing...last Saturday, Jerrod's bank was having pictures with Santa. I didn't think there was any chance we would get a pic with both boys considering Logan is terrified of Santa. Luckily they had a big wooden horse there and Logan wanted to ride it. So we got a picture with Owen on Santa's lap and Logan next to him on the horse. Logan then told Santa for Christmas he wanted a ball. More specifically he told us later he wanted a big, red ball. Then Logan wanted to go tell Santa how it snowed at his house! He is still afraid of Santa, but he does still want him to come to his house and bring him presents!!
